1.What this store is, and what it is not
We are the seller, not the manufacturer. Every device is designed and built by a third party; we source it, stock it, list it, ship it, and answer for it. Where we know the manufacturer, the listing names it. Where we do not know it, the listing claims no brand at all — including, deliberately, not ours.
The site currently lists 45 devices. That number is read from the live catalogue every hour rather than typed here, because a stale count on a page about accuracy is worse than no count.
We are not a marketplace. Nobody else lists on this site, so there is no third-party seller whose behaviour we could blame. If a page is wrong, it is our page.
2.The seven requirements
All seven are mandatory for a new listing, and for any listing we re-check. We do not rank the failures, and we do not add something “with a caveat” while the caveat is really a defect. The catalogue we inherited does not yet meet every rule: the current compliance status below gives the live counts rather than asking you to take our word for it.
| Rule | Passes only if | If it does not pass |
|---|---|---|
| E1 | We know who makes it.The manufacturer, or the trading company we buy from, is a named party on an invoice we hold, together with a model number. | Not listed. An unbranded device we cannot trace is not a product, it is a risk we would be passing to you. |
| E2 | The radio is stated by the manufacturer, not inferred. The protocol appears in the manufacturer’s own specification sheet. We do not read it off a marketplace title or a competitor’s listing. | Not listed. |
| E3 | We can answer “does it need a hub”.A yes or no, and when yes, at least one hub model that is known to work with it. | Listed only with the hub requirement marked unconfirmed, and with no ecosystem claim of any kind. |
| E4 | It fits the market we ship to.Mains voltage, plug type, mounting dimensions and tube or rail sizes are checked against the destination. No voltage adapters offered as a fix. | Not listed. |
| E5 | We print a certification mark only when we hold the certificate. The certificate ID (Matter VID/PID, FCC ID, NANDO or UKCA body number) is recorded against the SKU and can be looked up by anyone. | No logo, no badge, and the word “certified” does not appear in the listing. The protocol name may still be stated, because that is the manufacturer’s claim, not ours. |
| E6 | “In stock” means units in our warehouse. The quantity on the page is a count of units we can hand to a carrier today. | The device is sold as made to order, with a lead time on the page — not as in stock with a longer shipping estimate. |
| E7 | The page shows the product, or says that it does not.Either a photograph of the actual unit, or an abstract illustration that is visibly not a photograph. We never use another product’s photograph to fill the gap. | Not listed until we have one of the two. |
3.What we do not sell
These five are refusals, not gaps. If a product you want falls into one of them, we will tell you so rather than quietly shipping it.
- X1Mains wiring that needs a licensed electrician — in-wall switches, consumer units, breakers, panel-mounted devices.
- We cannot support the installation, and a mistake is a fire risk rather than a return.
- X2Cameras and microphones, unless the manufacturer publishes where the recordings are stored and who can reach them.
- A device that records people without an answer to that question should not be sold by anyone who has not asked it.
- X3Anything carrying a medical or health claim — sleep “treatment”, pain relief, air “sterilisation”.
- Those claims are regulated, and we are not able to substantiate them.
- X4Devices that need a paid subscription to do the thing they were bought for, unless the subscription price is on the page.
- The sticker price should be the price.
- X5Counterfeits, look-alikes and refurbished units sold as new.
- One such listing would invalidate everything else on this page.
4.How a listing is removed
A device comes off the shelf when any one of these is true:
- Return rate above 10% over a rolling 90 days.
- Three or more compatibility complaints on the same SKU that we cannot close with documentation.
- The manufacturer withdraws a certification, or ships firmware that breaks a pairing we had described.
- We can no longer confirm the hub model we named on the page.
- The supplier cannot be reached, or asks us to stop selling the item.
Removal is not deletion. The page stops being served to shoppers, and the removal is written into the log below with the reason. A catalogue that only ever grows is a catalogue nobody is checking.
5.Editorial log
Every change we have made to a claim on this site, newest first. We add to this list when we withdraw something, not only when we add something.
- Split Duo Centre-Closing Track Kit into two SKUs, one per radio (Matter over Thread and Zigbee 3.0). A single SKU could carry only one hub-requirement value, so the cheaper Zigbee variant was previously described by copy written for the Thread version. The split is logged here because it changed what a product page claims, not just how the catalogue is stored.
- Added the current compliance-status section below. The seven rules were written as pass-or-fail requirements, but the inherited catalogue does not yet meet E1 (manufacturer on an invoice we hold) for any SKU. Stating the counts is the only way to keep this page from asserting something about the whole catalogue that is not true.
- Published this page and /how-we-verify.
- Duo Centre-Closing Track Kit: the page described only the Thread variant (“native Matter, no hub”) while the same product is also sold with a Zigbee 3.0 radio at $20 less, which needs a Zigbee hub. First fix: state the hub requirement per variant in the specification table. Superseded later the same day by the SKU split — see the newest entry.
- Withdrew the 30-day return promise across the site. We do not yet have a published return address or a reverse-logistics process, so the promise could not be executed. What applies today is on /legal/returns.
- Removed every “Matter certified” phrase and the site-wide FCC · CE · UKCA badge. We could not produce a certificate ID for each SKU, and a store-wide badge claims certification for everything on the shelf. Protocol names are still stated as the manufacturer documents them; no certification mark is printed.
- Removed the homepage comparison table that scored our own products against unnamed competitors.
- Stopped attributing our own store name to products as their brand. Where we do not know the manufacturer, no brand is claimed.
6.Who decides, and how we profit
We profit from every sale on this site, so read “we recommend” with that in mind. What we do not do: accept payment for placement, sell a ranking position, or run sponsored listings. Nothing on this site is marked as a recommendation that was paid for, because none is.
We also sell no advertising. If a brand appears in a category page, it is there because we stock it, not because it paid to be.
7.Where the catalogue stands today
These numbers are read from the live catalogue every hour, not typed in. They are the honest answer to “do your own listings pass your own rules” — and today, for E1, the answer is no.
| What the field records | Devices with a record | Of |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer named (E1) | 30 | 45 |
| Hub requirement recorded (E3) | 45 | 45 |
| Ecosystem pairing record | 0 | 45 |
| Certification with an ID (E5) | 0 | 45 |
| Manual verification date | 0 | 45 |
A zero is not an error in the table. It means we have not produced the document that would let us write the field. Until we do, those pages claim no brand, print no certification mark, and do not say a device has been verified. We would rather publish an incomplete record than a confident one we cannot back up — and we publish the count so you can see the difference.
Our sourcing research and the exact documents needed to close each gap are recorded internally. The rules above do not change to fit the numbers; the numbers change when the documents arrive.
8.Challenge a listing
If a page on this site states something you believe is wrong — a protocol, a hub requirement, a certification, a lead time — email matrixgrowth@foxmail.com with the product URL and what you think is incorrect. We answer within three business days. If you are right, the page is corrected and the correction is written into the log above; if you are wrong, we will send you the document we relied on.
