1.What this page is, and what it is not
A protocol is the radio or network a device speaks. An ecosystem is a particular controller, app or voice assistant. Knowing the first does not establish the second. A device labelled Matter might pair with your controller in practice, but until we have run that pairing and recorded the controller model and firmware, writing “works with” on this site would be a guess presented as a fact.
At the time this page was generated there are 45 active products, speaking 9 distinct protocols. Of those products, 0 have a recorded ecosystem pairing, 45 have a confirmed hub requirement, 0 carry a certification record, and 0 have a manual verification date. Every one of these figures is computed from the live product record on each regeneration — none is typed into this page.
Consequently this page attaches no pairing claim to any product: there is no “works with [controller]” statement, no green tick against an ecosystem, and no compatibility badge. If you need a pairing confirmed for a specific controller, ask us and we will either produce the record or tell you we do not have one.
2.Every protocol in the catalogue
A product appears in more than one group when its record names more than one protocol — for example a Matter device that uses Thread as its transport. Those are the same SKU, not two products. Groups are ordered by how many products they contain, and every name links back to its own product page so you can check the wording at the source.

Bluetooth · 6 products
This protocol appears exactly as written in the product record. We have not verified pairing, a hub requirement, or a controller for it.
Matter · 5 products
An IP-based connectivity standard. A Matter label tells you which protocol the device speaks; it does not tell you which controller we have paired it with, because we have not paired it here.
RF 433 MHz · 2 products
This protocol appears exactly as written in the product record. We have not verified pairing, a hub requirement, or a controller for it.
2.4 GHz proprietary · 1 product

Product notes that are not protocols
The product record is a free-text field, and a few entries contain a whole paragraph instead of a protocol name — sometimes with ecosystem names or a hub note inside. We do not turn those into protocol groups and we do not read them as a compatibility finding. They are reproduced here, with the product they came from, so that the data is not silently dropped.
No free-text entries of this kind in the current catalogue.
3.Hub requirements: what “unconfirmed” means
A hub requirement is a separate fact from a protocol. Zigbee devices need a coordinator; Thread devices need a border router; some Wi-Fi devices need no extra hardware at all. Which of the three applies to a specific SKU can only be answered from that product's own record. Right now 45 of 45 products have a confirmed hub requirement.
We treat an empty field as unknown, never as none. On a product page an unknown requirement is labelled “hub requirement unconfirmed” in a warning colour, rather than being drawn as a green “no hub needed” badge. Those two states look similar in a database and are completely different to a buyer who already owns — or does not own — a hub. Our product record has an explicit unconfirmed value so that the distinction cannot be lost in transit.
The reason we do not simply infer the requirement from the protocol name: a product sold in two radio variants can have two different answers. One curtain track kit in this catalogue ships as Matter over Thread and as Zigbee 3.0, and only the second needs a Zigbee hub. A SKU-level inference would be wrong for half of them.
4.The only three ecosystem states we allow
When a pairing is eventually recorded, it gets exactly one of these values. There is no fourth state such as “probably” or “community reported” — an untested combination is simply absent from the matrix, and absence is not a claim either way.
| Value | What it means | What must be on file |
|---|---|---|
| native | The device works with that ecosystem without a separate hub from us. | A named pairing record, including the controller and firmware version. |
| via-hub | A specific hub model is needed, and we can name it. | Hub brand, model and firmware, plus the date the combination was checked. |
| unsupported | We know it does not work with that ecosystem. | A dated record of the failed or documented-unsupported combination. |
Records expire: a pairing is re-checked after 180 days and a certification after 365. An expired record is downgraded on the product page to “last checked” and never shown as verified. The full procedure is on how we verify.
5.How to read a product page
Start with the protocol line, then read the fact strip under the product title. If the manufacturer, the MPN, the hub requirement or the verification date is not shown, it is because we do not have a record for it — not because it is negative. A certification section only appears when a certificate ID can be shown alongside it. An editor's note, when present, is labelled as an opinion and is the only subjective text on the page.
If you own a hub and want to know whether a specific device will work with it, the honest answer today is that we cannot tell you from our own records. Check the manufacturer's documentation, or contact us with the hub brand, model and firmware. We will log the question; if we later test that combination, the result and its date appear here and on the product page from the same record.
